University of Oklahoma Press, c1940, Stated 1st Edition, First English Edition, 309 pages. GOOD+ Condition Illustrated Hardcover. This book is exlibrary with usual markings, light cover wear/soiling, frontispiece (not there, but also no indication it was ever there) & some wear to book corners. This book was originally published in Paris in 1844 in an extremely small printing. Pages & Binding are NICE & TIGHT!



Victor Tixier's travels were made in Missouri and Louisiana in 1839-1840. A fine account of Osage life on the plains in 1840.

Tixier traveled from France to New Orleans and thence up the Mississippi. This is a journal of high adventure. The narrative of a young Frenchman of good family who traveled up the Mississippi River in 1840 and experienced every boy's dream when he joined the Osage for their summer buffalo hunt.
