Née Germaine Heygel, d'un père alsacien, le 22 octobre 1909, décédée à Saint-Romain-en-Viennois (Orange) le 29 juin 2000, elle est surtout connue pour ses rôles dramatiques au théâtre (notamment chez Jean Villar) où elle fut une excellente interprète de Federico Garcia Lorca qu'elle fit connaître en France dans des pièces comme Noces de sang , Yerma ou La Maison de Bernarda Alba dans lesquelles elle a débuté sa carrière à l'âge de 18 ans.
