Dressing in hand-sewed pink campaign gown, she wears a helmet adorned with red feather and holds a long spear in her hand, ready for battle. In the story, Mulan disguised herself as a man to take her elderly father's place in the army. The Disney cartton film 'Mu Lan' popularised the story in the west.
