This mismatched set of linen napkins are antique and in superior condition. Two measure 12 inches square and one is 16 inches. They all have satin stitch scalloped edges and each is embroidered in one corner with a different design. All are from the same estate and are monogrammed with a W or an M depending on how you look at the napkins.
The embroidery is whitework with lots of tiny worked eyelets. One has a butterfly, one has a flower basket and one has a medallion.
These napkin are really old and have been used but have held up beautifully over the decades. None have stains or damage of any kind.
What do you do with mismatched napkins?
If you are single you know it is nice to dine graciously even if from a tray in front of the TV with the cat sniffing beside you.
If you care for a bedridden relative, little touches like adding a pretty napkin and a flower to their bed tray makes them feel like they are not such a burden.
Pack one in your brown bag lunch. You don't mind working through lunch so much when you have your tea from a china mug with a cloth napkin spread on your lap. It is also helping the environment.
Do you collect china cups and saucers and sometimes use them for special tea parties? Your cups and saucers don't match so why should your napkins? Arranging your buffet or table with your collections will liven conversation.
