This retro fabric is actually an 80 inch wide curtain that is 31 inches long. It is lined and in really superb vintage condition. Looks like someone used it for a short period and then replaced it when styles changed.
This is Panton or Marimekko styling and colors but there is only one selvage edge where the two 40 inch widths are sewn together. They have no designer or manufacturer marks.
The fabric is woven in a ribbed pattern (see closeup photo) and the design is like cascading or a chain of bulbs. Think of the old mid century tree toppers or little girls with brown eyes and hair pulled up on top of their heads.
The colors are typically late 1960s or early 70s: Orange, chocolate, English mustard, cinnamon, milky coffee and white.
The construction is of 2 x 40 inch panels sewn together to make one 80 inch wide valance or curtain for one of those wide short windows common in house architecture of the early 70s.
It has a hem of 3 inches which can probably be added to the length if you intend to take this apart and repurpose it. It is lined in white and gathered onto drawstring tape at the top. You can probably gain another inch in length there.
I can't find any sun fading or stains of any kind. It is clean and odor free so I have not done anything to this fabric.
This would be great for a dorm room, student apartment or even a retro office. There is enough fabric here to make some toss cushions plus a smaller valance. Great deal since you don't have to buy lining fabric.
Can't state positively about the fabric. It is most likely a cotton and synthetic blend of rayon or poly. It might be all cotton. It feels a bit like cotton satin with a ribbed texture. That's the best I can do.
