Big band era beaded evening bag Magid France white handbeaded vintage ll1527

A Magid hand beaded evening bag that was made in France probably soon after WWII. It is an old style bag, heavy with beading front and back and even has a beaded hand strap. The beads are white with champagne beads highlighting the diamond pattern of the white and also forming smaller diamonds inside the white. The bag is built on a bead encrusted frame and has a lift up beaded button for releasing the catch. Inside is lined in heavy bridal satin. It has a mirror pocket and a satin change purse on a silvery chain. The chain needs to be reattached.

The condition of this bag is really quite good for its age. The body of the bag is totally intact and the strap has only a couple of white beads missing. You have to look to see where. Along the opening a few beads are missing and a perfectionist will want to rebead that edge row. The inside satin is not as white as it once was but that is due to age not soil. It does have some makeup marks in the bottom and a pale stain just inside.

A little TLC could make it perfect or use it as is with your grandmother's wedding gown or a vintage cocktail dress.
