Qty: 30 Seeds
INSTRUCTIONS:
Plant Greenovia seeds using conventional growing methods:
Fill clean 4-inch pots with a fast-draining soilless potting mix. Moisten the mix with water, and fill it into a pot with drainage holes, up to about 1/2 inch from the top.
Sprinkle the seeds over the soil. Cover them with a 1/8-inch layer of fine sand or crushed rock.
Put the pots in a tray that will hold water. Water the pots from the bottom until the potting mix is saturated. Dump any excess water out of the tray. Cover the pots with a piece of plastic wrap or glass. Keep the soil moist, but not soggy.
Put the tray full of pots where the temperature is around 65 degrees Fahrenheit with bright indirect light.
Place the pot in a warm, bright indirect light area. Aim for a temperature of approximately 65 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Place a heating mat underneath the pot, if needed. Expect the seeds to germinate within about 3 to 5 weeks.
Transplant the seedlings to individual pots when the plants start to crowd and are big enough to handle. Place the pots in a sunny windowsill.
If you’d prefer to make your own soil:
1. Mix equal parts potting mix and perlite.
2. Water the mix and allow to drain.
3. Empty the seed vial onto a sheet of white paper. Then, use a dampened toothpick to space seeds out on the top of the soil.
4. Cover seeds with a thin layer of sand or vermiculite.
5. Cover pot with clear plastic wrap to retain moisture.
6. Place pot under a grow light. Aim for a temperature of 70-77 F / 21-25 C during the day and 62-65 F / 17-18 C at night. Keep the pot covered until the seeds germinate (approximately 3-30 days). If the soil dries before the seeds sprout, use a spray bottle to remoisten soil
Watch Them Grow:
--------------------------
1. Depending on the type of succulent, temperature, and light, your succulents may take anywhere from one week to a few months to begin growing, even with the same species. Once you see leaves begin to emerge, remove the lid during the day to keep them ventilated. Remove the lid but keep the growing medium moist for the rest of seeds to germinate until their fourth true leaves have developed. Do not let the medium dry out completely during the first four months.
2. Keep the soil moist and ensure adequate drainage. This is when their roots are just starting to develop, so it's crucial to keep them hydrated. Monitor your plants' growth, keep them in the shade for the first 12 months. Keep the temperature within the range from 55F to 78F. Use your best judgment until you're watering them about once per week.
3. Introduce succulents to sunlight. The baby plants especially don't like direct sunlight, so wait until their leaves begin to mature before slowly introducing them to more and more light.
