This New 92mm x 25mm case fan comes with a 3-pin Dell proprietary adaptor connector, RPM sensor and Dual 4-pin Molex Power Connectors.

This is a single speed fan and not temperature controlled. There is a possibility you may encounter an error message "fan not detected" upon bootup. This does not affect functionality which can be cleared manually and allow normal operation to continue. Not all Dells will do this, but some will.

Please check your fan application and verify plug configuration before making your purchase. See photos to compare. Dell computers vary by year even if they are the same model and may use a different motherboard connector. There are other Dell models that are applicable to this set up, which are not listed here. If the shape of your 3-pin connector (brown or black) appears as the one shown in the photo, then you have the correct fan. If not, then you will need the standard 3-pin connector. We also have that fan for sale on our site.

For your particular application, the 3-pin Dell proprietary connector is designed to plug directly into the motherboard. So installation will be a snap. However, if the fan does not come on due to a fan header malfunction, then you can use one of the Dual 4-pin connectors [same as the ones the hard drives or cd-roms use].

Simply unplug the 3-pin Dell connector from the motherboard and plug in one of the 4-pin molex Dual Power Connectors to an available Power Supply connector. When using the 4-pin molex connector, the fan will operate just fine. However, your computer will not sense the fan because of not using the 3-pin motherboard connector.

Some users of these alternate fans have resorted to turning off the fan warning detection to bypass the error message on bootup. We do not advocate or endorse these methods. We are simply reporting what others have done to resolve this issue.

Most of the time you can turn OFF the fan detector to avoid these warnings. To do so, turn on the computer, immediately Hit or hold down the F2 or DEL key to access the BIOS screen.

The settings are located in Power Management section of BIOS.

Use the following settings:

-Low Power Mode=OFF
-Suspend Mode=S1

Some users have had success setting their "halt on" settings to "no errors".

This fan is a low cost alternative to the original one costing well over $50.00, and usually is refurbished.
