Lazer Tag Academy is a 1986 animated series about 13-year-old Jamie Jaren, a Lazer Tag champion from the year 3010 who travels back to 1986 to stop the villain Draxon Drear. Drear, an evil criminal from the future, has also traveled back in time to destroy Jamie's ancestor, Beth Jaren, who will invent the Starlyte and Star Sensor that enable time travel and matter manipulation. Jamie teams up with Beth and her brothers, Tom and Nicky, to protect the past from Drear and his genetically engineered humanoids, the Skuggs.
