Place HouseLinc (#1101B) in a location where there is a clear line-of-sight between the front of HouseLinc and your TV (HouseLinc is a remote control just like the ones that came with your TV and it needs to "see" your TV to operate it). Usually, placing HouseLinc on top of your TV or entertainment center facing you will work (make sure the front plate of HouseLinc is as far forward as possible). Locate the Power Line interface (#1131) and the associated data cable (gray phone cord). Plug one end of the data cable into jack labeled "X10 Port" on the back of HouseLinc and the other end into the bottom of the Power Line Interface. 5. Plug the Power Line Interface directly into a wall outlet (HouseLinc may not operate correctly if plugged into a power-strip). The red LED will illuminate. Locate the 12V DC Power Supply. Plug the power supply jack into the jack labeled "Power" on the back of HouseLinc. Plug the 12V DC power supply into a convenient outlet. The green status light on HouseLinc should begin to blink (this is to warn you that there is no battery installed). 10. (Optional) Install a 9V DC battery into the compartment on the bottom of HouseLinc, and the green status light should stop blinking. The battery is used only to keep HouseLinc's built-in clock accurate during power out ages.
