Mustard cures the common cold

The poultice made from black mustard flour helps to relieve winter respiratory ailments (colds, coughs, simple bronchitis). It stimulates the local venous circulation and causes an influx of heat which helps to decongest the airways.
To do this, you can buy mustard seeds and grind them to make flour. In a bowl, mix black mustard powder with water to form a paste. Wrap the mixture in a cloth and place it at lung level, on your back or chest, for 5 to 10 minutes once or twice a day. Caution: the poultice is not suitable for small children or delicate or fragile skin.

Mustard promotes digestion

The condiment stimulates the production of gastric juice and saliva, the latter helping to fluidify the digestive system. Consumed during meals, mustard helps to fight against constipation, but also against aerophagia. On the other hand, it is better not to abuse mustard if you suffer from heartburn or ulcers.

Mustard is light and rich in nutrients.

Mustard is low in fat: per 100 grams, it contains 66 calories and 4 grams of fat. It is rich in calcium, phosphorus, potassium and vitamins A and C. Mustard can therefore be associated with a diet as part of weight loss.

Mustard relieves back pain.

Mustard acts effectively on muscle pain and joint stiffness. It is advisable to make a poultice with a tablespoonful of mustard and 20cl of warm water. Mix the paste. Wrap the mixture in a gauze, and place the treatment for ten minutes on an area to be treated, previously moisturized. If you feel a burn or irritation, remove it immediately.

Mustard gives energy

Thanks to its vitamin C content, mustard helps strengthen the immune system and promotes iron absorption. It contains vitamin B2, B6, B9, but also calcium and magnesium. Nutrients known to bring energy to the body.

Mustard warms up

Mustard is therefore a perfect ally to spend the winter in warmth. You can also pour a teaspoonful of crushed mustard seeds into the bath.

Mustard relieves sore throats

This mustard remedy is a dreadful grandmother's trick when your throat is sore. Mix one tablespoon of mustard, one tablespoon of salt, one tablespoon of honey and finally the juice of half a lemon and half a cup of boiling water. Leave to cool for 10 minutes. Then gargle it.
