Topical treatment of ringworm of the trunk, groin, hands and feet caused by the following dermatophytes: Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Microsporum canis, Epidermophyton floccosum, as well as skin and pityriasis versicolor.
Nizoral cream is also recommended for the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis associated with the yeast Malassezia ovale (Pityrosporum ovale).
Do not to use Nizoral cream if you are allergic to ketoconazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
Warnings and precautions
Contact with the eyes should be avoided.
In case of previous topical treatment of seborrheic dermatitis with corticosteroids, corticosteroid treatment should be gradually withdrawn over a 2-week period before using Nizoral cream, as exacerbation of the disease has been observed in case of abrupt discontinuation of their use.
How to use Nizoral cream
Nizoral cream is intended for use on the skin in adults.
Apply Nizoral cream to the affected areas of the skin and the skin adjacent to them once a day.
Average duration of treatment:
– tinea versicolor: 2 to 3 weeks,
– skin yeast infection: 2 to 3 weeks,
– jock itch: 2 to 4 weeks,
– ringworm of the trunk: 3 to 4 weeks,
– mycosis of the feet: 4 to 6 weeks.
Seborrheic dermatitis:
For skin infections with brownish-red patches or white and yellow scales (seborrheic dermatitis) Nizoral cream should be applied once or twice a day. Symptoms of infection usually disappear after 2-4 weeks.
The cream should be used for a few more days after the symptoms of infection have completely disappeared .
Even after complete recovery, the patient should use Nizoral cream once a week or once every 2 weeks to prevent the disease from coming back.
During treatment, basic hygiene rules should be followed to prevent re-infection.
A significant overdose may cause erythema, burning of the skin and edema.
Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
The tube should be closed.
