I Have This Old Gun Winchester Model 67 .22 Rifle Print Magazine Clipping
This is a one page article clipped from an American Rifleman magazine that tells us the history of the bolt action .22 , but first we must go back to the turn of the century and the bolt action that would revolutionize the world of affordable .22 rimfire rifles. This would also be a Winchester to, the John Browning designed Model 1900. Unlike the earlier .22's that were based on the company's Lever action center fires like the 1873 and the 1885, the 1900 was a new and simple design. The rear portion of the barrel was machined into a receiver which accepted a turning bolt. Its basic features would carry on for years for not only Winchester single shot 22's but Savage, Mossberg, Iver Johnson and Remington. Then in 1934 Winchester right in the midst of the great depression releases the Model 67 with a 27" barrel, Walnut Stock, fires .22 short, long and long rifle, and a large screw for holding action to stock and for takedown (one of the few changes from their original 1900 design). The best part was the price at $5.50. This isn't a vintage article but it covers a very important vintage rifle and its interesting history so buy it now to learn the rest. This would make a great matte framed art piece to go with the rifle if you have one or know of someone that does and needs a unique gift. It tells of a rifle that many of us may recall from our childhood or perhaps still have so this article will help us to recall and document past times. They are living reminders of who we used to be.
