1964 FORD 100 PICKUP TRUCK Print Ad "Toughness and comfort ride together"

This is an Original, Vintage Print Magazine Advertisement from a large format Magazine from the year 1963. The advertisement is promoting the coming new 1964 Ford F100 pickup truck. The Ad titled "Toughness and Comfort Ride Together" was advertised to be "Built Like the Big Ford Trucks- With a Big Comfort Bonus". It was the first year that Ford had the new Styleside Tailgate that could support a ton, yet be opened or closed using just one hand. Also there was the new sturdier Styleside box with double side walls making it stronger inside and sleeker outside. The all-welded cab meant fewer rattles giving it a more solid feel. In addition there was the newly designed Driverized cab with big Custom Cab cushions of 5 inches thick foam seat sealing out heat and noise with 38 lbs of insulation. Underneath was the new 128 inch Long Wheelbase that made for a much smoother ride. Also an independent research firm was hired and after there research stated that the Ford Truck would only cost 3.2 cents per mile for gas, oil, tires and repairs figured on 100,000 miles on trucks they studied. All of these features noted led to the Ford promotion slogan " See for yourself! You will agree a tough truck doesn't have to be tough on you. This full page ad in Red, Black and White colors is 13 5/8" inches long X 10 1/4" inches wide with little margin left for trimming if you desire. On the backside is the First page of an article on a Massachusetts small town defying the supreme court and allowing their children to still pray in school.One day these old ads will be gone and they don't make them like this anymore. The ads at the first part of the century were the best of the best no matter what was being advertised they drew your attention and held it. Not only the ads but many of the products or brands are also gone, changed names or been replaced. As the old print periodicals become more scarce so do the wonderful ads that gave life and color to those remembered times. They help us to recall and document past times. They are living reminders of who we used to be. They give us a snapshot in time of style, beliefs, activities and daily life different from our own.
