Vintage Swingline Mini Stapler Tot 50 Red Long Island NY USA Works Needs Staples

This is an original, Very Good Used Condition Stapler made by Swingline, Inc. In Fact there was 4 Staplers they made that were the most important for the company, the little Mini Tot 5o was Number 3 of the 4 and to most the most surprising fastener on the list.They all had different reasons for being so important and being on the list but they all had one reason in common and that was "all were revolutionary and innovative in an industry that from the outside world is seen as slow to change and conservative. The Tot 50 was the second stapler to hold the name Tot 50 the first belonged to a fastener that was a smaller version of the series 3 and 4 staplers and was introduced about the same time. Now the newer Tot 50 was radically different from the older Tot 50 it was much, much smaller at 3" long X .719 " wide X almost 1" inch high and weighing only 1.5 ounces. It also cost much less at .98 cents and you got box staples and a plastic case with it. Despite its low price it was still made of high quality materials as well chrome plated steel and Tenite Plastic, thus the reason this one and so many others still work today. While it was sold in office supply stores for businesses its success really came from the consumer end students and home/ home offices users. Its small size let it travel and store easy even if just a pants pocket. So swingline was the first to notice this new customer base and became the first to identify it and tap into it. It was such a success versions of the Tot are still made today. The stapler was called Tot 50 because it was introduced in 1950 and three versions were made this is the second which was made between 1956 and 64 and can staple 20 sheets of paper at once.
