USA Stamps Scott #565 American Indian 14 Cent Block of 4 Dark Blue Beautiful

This is a Block of Four stamps that are USA Scott Catalog #565 in Very Good,Used Condition and will be a great buy and addition to any collection that needs them or will make a wonderful gift.The stamp's are a 14 Cent denomination in a beautiful dark blue color. They were issued on May 1,1923 first in Muskogee,Oklahoma and Washington,D.C.They were printed using the Flat Plate method by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing with a perforation of 11.The stamp shows a headshot of a American Indian Chief with his full headgear on and underneath him is inscribed "American Indian". What very few people know about this stamp is that it actually portrays a real Brule Sioux Indian Chief, his name was Hollow Horn Bear. He is known for negotiating several large agreements with General George Crook who was attempting to break up the larger reservations, he is well known among the Indians of all tribes for fighting peacefully to protect the Indians basic rights and in 1905 he rode in Teddy Roosevelt's inaugural parade to proudly represent all Indians and tribes of the American West.By the time they replaced this stamp there would have been a quantity of 151,114,177 printed and released.This is a great opportunity and buy on a block of stamps that will be beautiful in any collection or as a gift to a special someone or perhaps a gift to the Indian/western History buff for display of a great Indian Chief.
