1955 Glenmore Whiskey Alcohol Distilleries Vintage Print Ad Kentucky Tavern USA

This is a nice advertisement for Glenmore Distilleries fine whiskey makes of Kentucky Tavern, Glenmore and Old Thompson. The ad is from a 1955 LIFE Magazine in the large style format that was once so popular by magazine publishers and the readers of that era. It is 12.75" Inches X 9.75 Inches in size and in full color. It shows four men with the two in the foreground each holding a bottle, one being Glenmore the other being Kentucky Tavern in deep discussion about the whiskey it looks like. Each of the three whiskies has its own distinct qualities A) Kentucky Tavern is a bonded bourbon of legendary quality due to its luscious velvety rich taste. It is made for men who relish the hearty amber quality of an authentic Kentucky Sour Mash Bourbon Whiskey at a full 100 proof B) Glenmore is a mild straight bourbon that combines a fullness of bourbon flavor with a subtle lightness of quality that is especially pleasing perfect for highballs or mixed drinks.Available in 86 or 90 proof. And lastly C) Old Thompson the only blend still wed in the wood meaning put back in the cask after blending instead of being bottled immediately. This time consuming method gives it a difference in taste that's terrific. Its 86.8 proof with 37.5 Percent fine straight whiskey 4 years or older and 62.5 percent grains neutral spirits. These whiskies definitely make the ad live up to its title of " For People of Inherent Good Taste", and the Louisville Kentucky distilleries slogan of " Where Perfection of Product is Tradition". This is an excellent collectors piece or for a home or bar decor piece.One day these old ads will be gone and they don't make them like this anymore. The ads from the 1890's up to about mid 1960's were the best of the best no matter what was being advertised they usually drew your attention and held it. Not only the ads but many of the products or brands are also gone, changed names or been replaced. As the old print periodicals become more scarce so do the ads that gave life and color to those remembered times helping us to recall and document those times. They are living reminders of who we used to be & give us a snapshot in time of style, beliefs, activities and daily life quite different from our own.
