American Rifleman Original 2017 Sturm Ruger Rifle Print Article 44 Carbine

This is an Original and Excellent, Used condition print Article from American Rifleman magazine November 2017.The article titled "I Have This Old Gun, Ruger 44 Carbine" was written by the Field Editor at the time Jeremiah Knupp and the photos on it were taken by Holly Marcus.This article gives lots of good background, specifications and history on another of the most popular rifles found in our country for collectors the Carbine rifle is a piece of Sturm Ruger's history and for hunters it is a light and handy Carbine for medium sized game at short to moderate range. It was a semi-automatic design with a side ejection port and tubular magazine hid in the stock Carbine rifle. Ruger chose the big magnum pistol cartridge the .44 magnum for the Carbine making them one of the first to see it's potential as a rifle round. In 1961 it was introduced as the Deerstalker but name was soon dropped due to another gun with same name, thus it was simply called the 44 Carbine or Model 44. It weighed in at only 6 lbs, had a 18.5 inch barrel and cost $105.00. This Carbine rifle would soon be the father of the 10/22 and then after that an entire product line of rifles till Ruger would be the Number 2 manufacturer of rifles in America, Number 1 in pistols. Their success kicked off in many ways due to this little gun discontinued in 1985. Buy this to learn more of its background.
