Blade material is 1065 High Carbon Steel, well tempered, full tang. Blade inscription reads "TEXAS DRAGOONS". Leather wrapped handle with twisted brass wire. Solid brass hilt. Comes with steel scabbard with two rings for attachment to saber belt.
This is a unique piece of US wartime history. An authentic replica of the highest caliber. In 1836, Texas having won its independence from Mexico formed the Republic of Texas. In 1839, the Texas Government contracted with Ames Mfg. Co. for 280 M1833 “Texas” Dragoon Sabers. These are exactly like the 1833 US Dragoon Saber except for the blade inscription, which has “TEXAS DRAGOONS” in script. Made by Windlass Steelcraft.
