The Heartleaf Ice Plant grows well in part shade to full sun where it can soak up 4-6 hours of sunshine each day, preferably in the morning. Keep in mind that the afternoon heat (especially in summer) can burn the plant. If growing indoors, it can also tolerate medium light, but try to find a sunny spot; near or on a window sill.


Like all succulents, the Heartleaf Iceplant is a hardy plant that can last a long time without water, but it grows best with moderate watering during the growing season (spring and summer). To find out if your Plant is thirsty – dip your finger into the soil. If the soil is dry to the touch, it’s time to water. Water the soil thoroughly and wait for the water to drain through, then empty any excess water sitting in the saucer. Allow the soil to dry out before watering again. In the cooler months, your plant won’t need much water.
