The variety forms a mat-like habit with dark green deeply cut foliage with flower stalks reaching 24 in early summer. Their showy blooms attract bees/butterflies and are excellent for fresh or dried-cut flower arrangements. Grows in a wide range of conditions tolerating both heat and poor soil.

Sow seeds in spring or late summer undercover with warmth on the surface of fine seed compost in pots or trays.
Cover seed with only a very light sprinkling of compost or vermiculite as light aids germination.
