The commonly called rain tree or tamarind is a medium-sized tree (up to 20 meters tall) with a very wide crown, it presents showy flowers that later give rise to pods with seeds that are suitable for cattle consumption and even their Seeds are consumed by the native people of their habitat, which are usually the tropical forests of several American countries (Mexico, Peru, Venezuela, among many others). It is a widely cultivated species for having great ornamental and livestock value, having been introduced in areas such as Hawaii.
It is recommended before sowing to sand the seeds a little and leave them to soak for 24 hours, then sow them in a warm-luminous-sheltered place in a universal or sowing substrate, it does not usually give germination problems. When the plants have several pairs of leaves, they should be transplanted to their final place in full sun or partial shade. It is a long-lived tree that is easily centennial with strong and fairly superficial roots.
