It is affected by strong frosts, it does not like strong exposure to the sun, but shady areas are not favorable for it either. Its favorite soils are those that are rich, deep, fresh and low in limestone. It does not usually suffer attacks from pests-diseases, but not flooding the ground too much also helps a lot to prevent them.Sowing should be done especially in autumn, although spring is not bad either, it is always best to take the seeds and clean them and then leave them in the fridge for 2-3 months in a damp cloth or in a moist sandy mixture (cold stratification). Subsequently, leave the seed to soak for 24 hours and sow in a warm-bright-sheltered place, ideally using a sandy mixture or something type of substrate with perlite. The exact germination period is variable, usually weeks or months but once hatched the seedlings grow very quickly.
