Italian heritage variety. The upright elongated heads are made of dark green and white leaves which mature to dark red. The leaves are crunchy and have a slightly bitter taste and are used both raw as a green salad and cooked as a vegetable. Named after the city of Trevisio in Italy where it originates from. The herbs do best in cooler weather; growing in colder climates produces sweeter, redder colored heads. Heads grown in warmer climates tend to develop a more bitter taste. Can be planted in containers. This is a good variety for growing baby leaves.
