A very easy tree to grow, the only requirement being that you plant these in clumps of three or four as the trees need a partner to produce fruit. I have planted two clumps and one had two female trees and one male, and the other had two males and one female so the ratio is about 50/50. Only one male tree is required in close proximity so any excess male trees can later be removed. It grows easily and fruits at a young age, four year old trees often providing an ample crop. It can be grown as a very powerful security hedge as it has thorns which will deter any would be intruder. For this reason it is also often chosen by birds to make their nests amidst the thick dense canopy. This tree makes a great "living fence" for farms as even pigs will not penetrate and also the leaves can be used as livestock fodder as well as keeping stock in.
