COSMOS Sensations Picotte 100 Seeds Beneficial Insect Flower garden
Annual 100cm
Large single white flowers edged with shades of magenta pink
Popular with florists
Annual growing to 100cm, with larger than usual single white flowers in summer and autumn. Deeply divided feathery foliage. Plant in a wildflower or cottage garden or as an accent in a mixed border. Used by florists as a cut flower. Easy to grow.
White flowers delicately edged with shades of magenta pink and long slender stalks with bright green foliage. These heavy flowering, easy to grow flowers attract attention in any garden. They are marginally frost-hardy and self seed freely. Picotee cosmos will thrive in hot weather and poor soil, and will tolerate drought. Blooms attract birds, bees, and butterflies and are excellent cut flower. Children will love planting their cosmos seeds and watching them grow taller than they are!
Sow your Cosmos seeds in the full sun to partial shade. As cosmos flowers are very adaptable, they can thrive in average to poor soil quality, and they are tolerant to dry conditions. Scatter the seeds outdoors and cover with half a centimetre of soil, as they do not need light to germinate. Germination will usually occur in just 3 to 5 days, but it can take up to 2 weeks Once started, they will require virtually no attention. You can add a general purpose fertilizer once or twice a season. If a plant grows very tall and is not planted in a wind protected area, it may require staking. If you want blooms all summer long, dead head the old blooms.
