1. WHAT GALAZOLIN 0.05% IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR
Galazolin is nasal drops. Its active ingredient, xylometazoline hydrochloride, is a compound of the imidazole group that causes a sympathomimetic effect. Dropped on the nasal mucosa, the preparation constricts the blood vessels, which reduces the hyperemia, swelling and amount of secretions of the nasopharyngeal mucosa. Galazolin is used for the common cold, allergic rhinitis or otitis media.

2. BEFORE YOU USE GALAZOLIN 0.05% NOSE DROPS
Galazolin 0.05% should not be used:
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to xylometazoline hydrochloride or any auxiliary substance of Galazolin 0.05%;
- if you have a dry runny nose;
- if there is closed-angle glaucoma;
- if the patient has just had the pituitary gland removed or another operation that opened the dura mater.
- If the patient is younger than 2 years.

Special precautions are required:
To prevent the spread of infection, the nasal drop container should only be used by one patient. Patients who suffer from angina pectoris, high blood pressure, diabetes, prostatic hyperplasia or hyperthyroidism should use the drug with extreme caution. The medicine cannot be used together with MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants. If the above circumstances have occurred, you should consult a doctor.

Special warnings for certain patient groups
This medicine should not be used in infants and young children under 2 years of age. Before administering the medicine to children under 6 years of age, it is necessary to consult a doctor.

Interaction between Galazolin and tricyclic antidepressants is rarely possible. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Before using any medicine, it is necessary to consult a doctor or a pharmacist. Since xylometazoline hydrochloride can cause a systemic vasoconstrictive effect, it is not recommended for pregnant women to use it. A pregnant woman can use the drug only if, in the doctor's opinion, the benefit to the mother outweighs the risk to the fetus. The drug should be used with caution in nursing mothers.

Driving and using machines
Galazolin does not affect the ability to drive and use machines.

3. HOW TO USE GALAZOLIN 0.05% NOSE DROPS

In case of overdose of Galazolin 0.05%, a large
overdose or accidental ingestion of the medication in patients, especially in children, causes too strong sedative effect, visual disturbance, headache, nervousness, heart rhythm disturbance and insomnia. Long-term use of Galazolin can cause secondary rhinitis (Rhinitis medicamentosa) that is insensitive to the effects of drugs. In case of drug overdose, you should immediately contact a doctor who will prescribe symptomatic treatment. If you take too much of the product, you should immediately consult a doctor or pharmacist.
