Sansevieria, or as it is also known Snake Plant or Mother-In-Law’s Tongue, is an evergreen houseplant, the main characteristic of which is the production of oxygen on the high level. At the same time, it absorbs harmful substances from the indoor air.
The plant doesn’t have stem, just long striped thick leaves, thriving upwards. It can easily find its place somewhere in the corner, taking not too much space even in a small room, but adding some tropical flair to the house.
Growing conditions:
- lighting: Sansevieria normally grows under low light conditions, but don’t keep it without bright light for a long time. It requires sunlight from time to time for the protection of its beautiful foliage.
- watering: water the plant regularly, but with small amount of water. Reduce watering during the cold season. Use soft, settled water of room temperature.
- fertilizing: feed the houseplant once a month during the vegetation period.
- nuances: Sansevieria can grow with usual home humidity, no need to create extra air humidity for the plant. As for temperature range, the plant is not demanding. It feels comfortable with the temperature between 61 and 68°F during the night and between 70 and 82°F in daytime. If the plant grows under low temperature conditions for a long time, it is necessary to reduce watering. Repot the young plants once each year, adult one – once in a few years, when the pot is already too small for it. Use the pot a few inches bigger than previous one.
