Nature Engraving Teal Fish w/Description Pages Naturalist Wm Jardine Ca. 1840

This is an authentic antique engraving by naturalist Sir William Jardine, published between 1833 and 1843. The hand colored "Gymnotus fasciatus" measures 6 3/8" x 4" (16.2 x 10.2 cm) without the mat. Included is the original description of the illustrated species published at the same time as the print. (Note from Davis Galleries erroneously refers to the print as a lithograph.) This print is in very good condition with no tears, folds, or stains and is smoke-free; it has minor edge foxing. The mat is optional and measures 10" (25.4 cm) x 12¼" (30.9 cm) with a gold line surrounding the opening.
