Large fragrant, lavender inflorescences hang down from new growth in the spring through mid-summer. Bears medium green foliage from April through October. It can be trained against a wall, fence, or up a tree. Zones 7 - 10. Grow in a fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full sun for best flowering performance. The Wisteria frutescens. can be found growing in the wild in Tennessee and other places around the U.S. BONUS INFORMATION: This variety is native to the USA. Although our starter plants are small, they grow fast and are NOT SEEDLINGS, but divisions. Therefore, they can bloom within a year or two. After the first year of growth, you don't need to give them nitrogen. Excess nitrogen will discourage blooming. The first number in the fertilizer is Nitrogen. A "bloom" or "blossom" fertilizer will have a lower first number and a very high middle number (Phosphorus). Use this type after the first year and it will encourage blooming. Dies back in very cold weather but comes back in spring. Can be container grown. Shipped in a small 3-inch deep pot. Zone 7-10. Grows to 8-20 ft. You will be receiving 1 plant between 3 & 8 inches in a 3-inch deep pot. (These are beginning to go into dormancy which means they will lose their leaves, which is an important part of the growing cycle for Wisteria.
