Horolovar 400 Day Anniversary Clock Repair Guide Book Charles Terwilliger 9th Ed Good Condition, but there are signs of age. Cover will have some typical scuffs/wear from use and there is some discoloring of the front page as shown in the photo. There is a name written inside, but no highlighting or writing on the pages seen when I flipped through. The bottom page edges do have some discoloring. Of interesting note, the name on the inside (previous owner) was a teacher and clock repairer in North Texas. She was knowledgeable and passed on the skill. I'm sure this book was an invaluable resource and is ready to be of aid to it's next owner. About the book The first edition of the Horolovar 400-Day Clock Repair Guide was published in 1953, a 48-page paperback called “The Horolovar 400-Day Clock Suspension Spring Guide.” Since then there have been fifteen printings and eight editions of the Guide and a change of name to indicate its wider scope. Much of the information added over the years has come from readers, particularly from helpful and cooperative repairmen. This edition includes the contents of THE HOROLOVAR 400-DAY CLOCK REPAIR GUIDE, enlarged and updated, expanded information from “The Horolovar Collection, A Comprehensive History and Catalog of 400-Day Clocks, 1880-1912,” and new material with many illustrations on the various types and shapes of pendulums, the many sizes of ratchet wheels and the variety of suspension bracket and saddle units. There are also over ninety illustrations of pre-World War I models, and a section of illustrations from patents issued during the development of the clock. This above information is taken, in part, from the Foreword to the Ninth Edition Revised and Updated by the author, Charles Terwilliger, in January 1984.
