18k Rose Gold Vermeil French Acanthus & Fluorite Necklace

Swirling, spikey acanthus leaves have been a popular design motif since ancient times. In the classical revivals of the 19th century and Victorian era, the acanthus motif returned with a vengeance, which explains our discovery of this beautiful example in Paris last spring. The vintage mold dates to 1846 and its highly detailed modeling reflects the top quality craftsmanship we expect from French examples of this period. For this necklace, we put two of them together (actually two separate L+R mirror image) to form a beautiful symmetrical organic swirling effect that is truly an attention-getter. The two pieces are hinged in the middle so when it lays on the skin, it flexes outward a bit for an interesting three-dimensional effect. We hand-cast them in 18kt rose gold vermeil over sterling silver. The special burnished, matte antiqued Rose Gold finish we hand-apply is rapidly becoming a hallmark of our collection. From the center dangles a BIG luminous light green fluorite gemstone measuring 25mm long x 16mm wide. Ensemble is mounted on a copper antique watch fob-style chain. Rose vermeil lobster closure. Necklace measures 15 1/4 to 16 1/4 inches with silver pearl tipped extender.
