Ficus carica. Fig 'Chicago Hardy'
Information below is only the potential the plant has. You will be receiving one plant between 2.5 and 6 inches in height shipped in a 3 inch deep pot. The second picture in the ad shows a range of typical sizes that we ship.
Vigorous plant that is an early producer of purple-skinned fruit with reddish flesh. Wonder if your figs are ripe? The fruit stem should be hanging/drooping from the branch and the fruit should be soft. Still not sure? If you pick an unripe fig it will snap off and ooze white liquid indicating it is not ripe. Fig trees can grow for a very long time so be sure to always plan out where you want them to stay or plant them in a container where they will be smaller and you can move them around
Overview:
Average mature height: 15 - 20 feet. Soil: Well drained. Will not tolerate excessively wet soil, but needs ample moisture during fruiting. Light: Full sun. Zones: 7 - 10 may be hardy in zone 6.
During the fall and winter months, this plant goes into dormancy, so your order may arrive with no leaves. No fear. This is an important part of the growing cycle. They are still healthy, viable plants and will begin growing new leaves in spring when there is more light and warmer temperatures during the day and night.
PLEASE FEEL FREE TO BUY IN OUR STORE, NO WORRIES, WE ALWAYS HAVE A GUARANTEE OR REFUND IF NEEDED.
