A young boy saved from drowning by a beautiful mermaid, falls in love with her 20 years later when she returns to seek him out. Before he can choose between life on dry land or a deep sea paradise with his dream woman, the lovers are rudely interrupted by the intervention of a scheming scientist.



Just when you though there might be a Blu-ray release of Ron Howard's comedy Splash the decision was made to release it onto Disney Plus instead. Touchstone Pictures is owned by Disney so this move was not suprising. What is, is that Disney Plus decided to edit/censor the movie for the platform, removing all nudity from the movie. [Note the nudity was not of a sexual nature but when a mermaid is out of the water it is unlikely that she would be wearing a bathing suit.]

You have to ask yourself, do you want to live in a world where Daryl Hannah's butt is blurred or cropped out? If you do then you will hate this blu-ray

Originally Rated PG on release (PG-13 did not yet exist) then re-rated years later to PG-13, Disney plus has edited the movie and has retained the PG rating. Stinky Tuna's blu-ray is not edited in anyway and is the PG-13 version upscaled to HD. In fact there is a special feature comparing the difference in the cut and uncut versions.
