First time on Blu-ray and would you believe never even released on DVD Not officially and the bootleg DVD's were just dubs of the VHS so they were poor. This controversal movie is a heavy hitter and many say has one of the most shocking and disturbing endings ever put on film.

Goodbar is a 1977 American crime drama film, based on Judith Rossner's best-selling 1975 novel of the same name, which was inspired by the 1973 murder of New York City schoolteacher Roseann Quinn, who led something of a double life. Raised in a strict Catholic family, Theresa (Diane Keaton) teaches deaf children during the day and cruises singles bars and discos at night. Theresa favors rough sex with random suitors, ignoring the advances of well-meaning but nerdy social worker James (William Atherton). Instead, Theresa pursues the likes of Tony (Richard Gere), whose threatening knife and swagger excite her. Theresa indulges in increasingly dangerous encounters, putting her life at risk.

This is and may very well be the best this movie will ever look. You will not find it anywhere else on Blu-ray or with the quality we have because we are the ones who did the restoration. Well...that's half true. We fixed alot of things that needed adjustment. For starters the source originated from Europe and was in PAL format. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's a different format used outside of the U.S. and runs at a different frame rate than NTSC which is what is used in the U.S. and Canada. So in addition to enhancements and repair we had to adjust the speed and resync the audio so that everything was as it should be. Kind of nice when the voices match the actor's lips.

Now we will be the first to say it is not perfect. Not even close. Macroblocking is present in various scenes due to compression used on the print long before we got it. We did our best to minimize the effect but it is not as easy as one might think. Still, If you can find a better quality print of this movie (and I bet you wont) we will give you the Blu-ray for free and a free movie every week for a year. We make that challenge not to say that ours is so great but to say everything else that is available is unwatchable. Our decision to put this on Blu-ray was simple. The movie look in general is drab and dark. That's how it was filmed and how the Director wanted it to look but any further compression to try to put this on DVD would have been unforgivable and we'd be no better that the guys that are selling this with such bad quality. As Forrest Gump would say ".. that is all I've got to say about that."
