Onion Red Rippa is a popular variety producing large red globe onions. A long keeper suited to cooler climates with a milder tasting flavour. It does like good, well-drained soil and a sunny position – takes about 180 days to maturity. Harvest these red beauties when stems are yellow.
Sow 5mm deep, in rows 30cm apart. Cover with fine soil and keep moist, thin seedlings early to 2cm and later to 10cm apart. Prepare the soil well by adding organic material and a pre-planting fertiliser. Seedlings emerge 10-14 days.
