Salvia officinalis is a perennial shrub up to 70 cm high, usually with blue-violet, less often white or pinkish flowers.
Salvia officinalis blooms in June - July (35-45 days). Good honey plant. In addition to the sweet, fragrant nectar, it secretes a sticky substance that bees collect to make propolis. The honey collected by bees on sage plantations has pronounced healing properties. The honey is dark golden in color, with a pleasant smell and taste. In warm weather, bees visit flowers all day. The nectar produced by one flower per day contains 0.9-1.1 mg of sugar. Honey productivity is 150-200 kg per hectare.
