Description

Seeds from Lycium pallidum. A species of flowering plant in the nightshade family known by the common names pale wolfberry and pale desert-thorn. It is native to northern Mexico and the southwestern United States. This shrub grows 3 to almost 10 feet tall. It can form bushy thickets. The leaves are pale giving the plant its name. The flowers are single or borne in pairs. Forming a funnel-shaped these blossoms can be creamy-yellow to yellowish-green or greenish cream, sometimes tinged with little purple. They are fragrant and pollinated by insects. The fruit is a juicy, oval-shaped, shiny red berry with seeds inside. The plant can be reproduces by seed and also spread by cuttings, and by suckering and layering. Zone 6-8.
