Sweet as an apple is the expression used to describe this onions mild flavor. Great grilled, and even raw. A short day type of onion. The bulb is thick and flattened. It is sometimes known as Vidalia, or Noonday onion. Pull onions at any stage for fresh eating. Harvest young onions to eat as scallions. For full sized bulbs, don't pull onions until bulbs are big and tops start to yellow and fall over.
Botanical name: Allium cepa
Seed Type: Non-GMO
Seed Origin: United States
Germination Rate: 95%
Germination Tested: 3/20
Days To Maturity: 125
You will receive 1/2 TSP, which is approximately 500 seeds, but it could actually be a few more/less seed.
The geographic origin of the onion is uncertain because the wild onion is extinct and ancient records of using onions span western and eastern Asia. Traces of onions recovered from Bronze Age settlements in China suggest that onions were used as far back as 5000 BCE, not only for their flavor, but the bulb's durability in storage and transport. Ancient Egyptians revered the onion bulb, viewing its spherical shape and concentric rings as symbols of eternal life.
