Delicious. No garden is complete without Peppers. This variety is a wonderful heirloom variety with good old-fashioned taste. The Orange Habanero is a traditional early strain of hot pepper. The habanero pepper is 85 centuries old. It is believed to have originated in Cuba. Although it is now grown in Belize, Costa Rica, Texas, and even California, the majority of habanero peppers are harvested by the ton in the Yucatan each year.

They are ready to eat when they are dark green but will turn to its ripe color of orange if left on the vine to keep maturing. It can be grown in many types of soils and environments. The pepper seeds we planted for this variety were organically grown.

The Habanero is ready to eat in 70 days for green and 80-90 days for orange ripe. It is somewhat frost hardy, great for growing in containers and is very hot.

I dry and chop these up for pepper flakes to spice up a variety of dishes. You can make you own hot sauce with this pepper. All you need is a blender or food processor.

Seeds can be sown directly into garden when soil is warm or started in containers and transplanted when several inches tall.

Zones 3-10

All seeds are packaged and for the current growing season.
