This is a rare variant of Eucalyptus leucoxylon now known as a distinct species of its own. It only occurs on the Eyre Peninsula in Southern Australia.
This spectacular small tree has an open, spreading crown with multiple trunks. Commonly known as "rosea", it bears an abundance of large, fabulously-colored deep pink/red flowers from winter through spring -- the time of year when little else flowers.
Something special to note here is that, unlike its close relatives, this tree bears flowers more true to color when planting as seedlings.
The bark of this tree is smooth white or green-grey and it light-frost tolerant. In addition, it is fairly drought-tolerant, moderately salt-tolerant and adapts well to wetter climates.
