OB4C01This is a Very Vintage Japanese Byobu 4 Panel Folding Table Top Screen that stands 34" TALL and 49" WIDE. I assume it is from Japan, but have no verification or provenance. Only an expert that knows the style, construction, and graphics could know for sure. I do not know any of the materials. The back is felt like, and the front is stiff fabric or paper. It is purely decorative. It is actually a beautiful piece that needs restoration. It can be a very dynamic feature in any East Asian decor. For all I know it could be just vintage from the 60s or 70s, or it could be much much older. From the materials, I would think 1950s or 60s. There is a lot of wear and issues on this screen, but it can likely be fixed. The Wood sides need to have touch up refinishing, a strip of paper or fabric is loose/coming off one of the panels along the decoration (you can clearly see this in one of the pictures I took of it), one nail on a corner bracket is missing, there are dents on a couple corner brackets, you can see several marks and indents on the back felt side, but the front looks fine. See the several pictures I took of the panels. I believe this could be restored by a professional. You must see the pictures for more details and ask questions if you see anything that catches your attention. A serious buyer that needs to know condition can ask for other pictures and other angles.
