Corsican Hellebore is one of the earliest flowering of the hellebores, with blooms appearing in winter and early spring. it is a robust evergreen that produces large clusters of long lasting, cup-shaped, nodding, 2" wide,whitish-green flowers on an upright spike above dense, palmately divided, dark-green, evergreen leaves. it has a clump forming habit, growing to a height of 24" inches and a spread of 2-3' feet. this is the most sun and drought-tolerant species of the hellebore genus.
excellent in woodland settings or beds/borders with dappled shade. useful for under planting shrubs and trees. they are a welcome sight in winter when no other flowers are in bloom.
easy to grow, low maintenance plant.
these seeds need to be stratified, 'given cold treatment' to sprout. plant them outside where the winter weather will give them its worst. they will sprout in spring. they will not sprout without cold treatment. or put them in your fridge for 3 months.
these are new seeds, collected this june.
