2020-(P) $1 American Silver Eagle NGC MS70 Emergency Production First Day of Issue Struck at Philadelphia 1st Day of Issue Label

LCR Coin is offering this last year 2020 (P) American Silver Eagle Certified by NGC as MS70. This coin is the second time that because of unforeseen circumstances there is a Philadelphia labeled Business Strike Silver Eagle. This is also the last year of our beloved American Silver Eagle with the current reverse design. This coin is truly owning a piece of history with two very unique circumstances. Don't miss out.

This Mintage is second only to the 79,640 coins from the Philadelphia Mint struck in 2015. This Mintage is 240,000 still a very low quantity of bullion coins struck. As an example, in 2019 14,863,500 were Minted. This is under 2% of the 2019 production. Of the total 240,000 how many are graded in MS69 or MS70 or at all. As we all know this coin has so much more history attached to our current lives.

Please note that these are business strike coins. Because they are U.S. Mint sealed boxes of American Silver Eagles, NGC and PCGS have designated that these coins were struck at the U.S. Mint facility in Philadelphia by including the mintmark in parentheses on the label. Actual content from the letter from the U.S. Mint regarding this issue:

2020 American Eagle Silver Bullion Coins Produced in Philadelphia

In light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the United States Mint has temporarily reduced production in its facilities in order to reduce the risk of employee exposure to COVID-19. The health and safely of the Mint workforce remain our highest priority.

Typically, American Eagle Silver Bullion Coins are minted at the Mint’s West Point facility. However, due to the reduced production at the West Point facility amid the coronavirus pandemic, from April 8 until April 20, 2020, the United States Mint at Philadelphia produced 240,000 American Eagle Silver Bullion Coins. These 2020 American Eagle Silver Bullion Coins minted in Philadelphia were all packaged manually. The coins were shipped in so-called “monster boxes”, each of which contains 25 tubes of 20 coins, for a total of 500 coins in each box. Monster boxes of 2020 American Eagle Silver Bullion Coins minted in Philadelphia were affixed with a typed label containing the box tracking number; additionally, box tracking numbers were hand written directly on the boxes. Box tracking numbers 400,000 through and including 400,479 were issued on boxes of coins minted in Philadelphia.

The United States Mint does not sell its bullion coins directly to the public. Instead, we distribute our coins through a network of distributors called “Authorized Purchaser” to provide investors the opportunity to acquire precious metal coins at a slight premium to spot market prices. As such, all American Eagle Silver Bullion Coins are, by their very nature, homogeneous. None of these coins bears a mint mark designating the facility where it was produced. The Mint’s goal is to ensure that the American Eagle Silver Bullion Coins stuck at any of its facilities are identical and indistinguishable from one another.
