This purpose of this book of Orthodox prayers is to provide individuals and families with the traditional daily prayer services used for Orthodox Christian worship. The style of the translation (from the original Greek), has been carefully undertaken in a manner that will serve our contemporary everyday needs. Yet this work has also been prayerfully labored over so that it might reflect the dignity and changeless integrity of the original ancient liturgical prayers of the Church. The text is therefore refreshingly easy to use yet poetic and traditional in its spiritual "flavor." In addition to the basic daily cycle of services, this book contains private devotional prayers, such as the prayers for before Holy Communion. Morning and evening prayers are also included, out of consideration for the shortness of time available to many individuals today.
