Large Bronze Big Seated Panchamuhkti Ganapati Ganesha - 56cm/22.5"Measures – (Length) 56cm/22.5”A serene seated Panchamukha Ganapathi (5 Headed Ganesha), from HD Asian Art, in the seated position. He has 10 arms and 5 heads. Four of Ganesha's heads face in each direction with a smaller head on top of the four heads. The Ganesha head on top is smaller and has a cork screw shaped trunk. In Ganesha's 10 hands He holds, going clockwise from his bottom right hand in the abhaya mudra, a weapon, His broken tusk, prayer malas, a hammer, a noose, elephant goad, club and a mango. Two cobras form his large belt. His two feet are up towards his body in a relaxed seated position of a baby. The casting is beautiful as you can see in the fine details of the fingers and toes. Each detail is rendered perfectly. The sculpture has been professionally mounted on a museum quality base. The piece is loose mounted, however, and can be removed. The actual sculpture measures 32cm x 29cm x 20cm.Ganesha is the elephant headed son of Shiva. He holds his broken tusk in one hand and gathers up sweetmeats with his trunk from a bowl in his other hand. In his early forms in India, Ganesha was associated with fertility.
