19th Century Antique Burmese Shan Lacquerware Medicine Box - 62cm/25” Measurements – H62cm (25")Ca. 19th century Burmese Shan lacquerware Medicine box. The medicine box is comprised of nine compartments. A large central and eight smaller compartments. The central compartment is covered by a pointed Stupa. Each of the smaller outer compartments are topped by an individual and unique Nat spirit, carved from teak wood. The box itself is decorated in traditional Shan style. The eight Nat figures can be removed to reveal a hollow tube, used to store herbs, spices and traditional medicines. Each of the Nats are posed in different positions and appear complete, with no damage. Overall the piece is in good condition. Provenance: Private UK collection.
