English Rose is one of a pair of circular beaded blackwork designs which use silks and metallic threads to give a luxurious sense of the golden age of Elizabethan embroidery. Loosely based on a combination of arabesque designs and designs for parterres (formal gardens) found in Elizabethan and Tudor pattern books, this design is worked on 32 count or 28 count evenweave fabric.
