Native to California, Nevada and Oregon. Usually found on mountain slopes and meadows above 4,000ft. First described by botanist David Douglas in 1828, growing near the Colombian river.Sky Lupine is a easy to grow Annual that will tolerate some drought after established and doesn't mind a little shade. The plant is low lying and bushy, with star shaped 3" leaves. If seeds are planted in early spring, eye catching blue flower spikes will grow up to 24" tall and bloom mid summer and into Fall(Deadheading will extent blooms) The blooms are deep blue with white and yellow spots. The colors vary from spike to spike, so no two blooms are exactly alike. The blooms make great long lasting cut flowers. Sky Lupines also do well in a good sized container. Lupines do not transplant very well, so start seeds in there permanent home.Sky Lupine seeds need to be stratified to germinate.I keep all Lupine seeds in the seed fridge at 41F to simulate a cold winter.(stratify)1OZ = 2800+ seeds per order. Thank You! Lupinus nanus. Annual. Full sun / P. sun. Spring, soil temp 65F+. Fall, seeds will sprout in spring. Soak seeds overnight in warm water. SOW 1/8"deep, 4" apart.Keep moist.
