Our Village by Miss Mitford and profusely illustrated by Hugh Thomson is for sale. This is the first edition of Our Village published by Macmillan and Co in 1893.
Our Village measures 5¼ x 7½ inches (approximately) and has a stunning gilt on dark green binding to the front board and spine, with a plain back board as required. The binding is in Very Good condition with darkening to the spine and very slight corner knocks and knocks to the top and bottom of the spine.
There are 256 numbered pages, all edges gilt, with large black and white full page and smaller illustrations throughout. The pages are in overall in Very Good condition with remains of a bookplate to the front endpaper, and heavy foxing to first leaves, and light to medium foxing then throughout the book.
Our Village is a very attractive Victorian children’s illustrated book.
